Johnson Falls to Farmington and Colby-Sawyer at Quad-Match

NEW LONDON, Vt. - Johnson State opened their North Atlantic Conference (NAC) schedule on Saturday in a quad-match hosted by Colby-Sawyer College.  The Badgers fell 3-0 (25-23, 27-25, 25-15) to the University of Maine-Farmington and 3-0 (25-4, 25-6, 25-11) to the host Chargers.  Johnson slides to 2-9 overall, 0-2 NAC.

Match One:  UMF 3, JSC 0

The Beavers held off Johnson State in each of the first two games to get the 2-0 lead before closing out the Badgers comfortably in the third.  Anyo Staszko (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) had a seven-kill performance while Bridget Flaherty (Plymouth, Mass.) had 12 assists and 15 digs to lead UMF.  Johnson received a 12-assist, 15-dig effort, and three service aces from Kylie VanEtten (Montrose, Penn./Elk Lake) and Abbie Pridham (Laconia, N.H./Laconia) had seven kills and five digs.

Match Two:  C-SC 3, JSC 0

Colby-Sawyer saw Stephanie Vecchio (Shelter Island, N.Y.) stack up 11 kills while freshman Sarah Hannon (Calais, Maine) had 15 assists and 10 digs in the win.  Emilee McBride (Strafford, N.H.) chipped in with seven kills.  VanEtten had seven digs to pace Johnson.
