Norwich Cruises Past Johnson

JOHNSON, Vt. – Johnson State College saw visiting Norwich University roll to a 3-0 (25-7, 25-14, 25-12) non-conference women's volleyball victory on Tuesday night at Carter Gym.  The Badgers dip to 0-3, 0-0 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) while the Cadets improve to 2-1, 0-0 Great Northeast Athletic Conference.  Norwich stacked up 20 service aces to fuel win.

Sophomore Kelsey Mancini (Lynnfield, Mass.) recorded 10 kills and five service aces in the match while senior Gabrielle Miller (Grove City, Ohio) dealt out 14 assists on the night.  Both senior MaryRose Meany (Goshen, N.Y.) and freshman Tara Lyons (Pocasset, Mass.) connected on four kills apiece.

Johnson senior Kylie VanEtten (Montrose, Penn./Elk Lake) compiled five assists and seven digs while junior Mallory Corse (Cambridge, Vt./Lamoille) and freshman Andrea Williams (Thorburn, Nova Scotia/North Nova) each had three kills.

The Badgers will move on to play at the David Hildebrandt Memorial Tournament at Newbury College this week with their first match slated for 4:00 pm on Friday, September 7 against the host.  Norwich will now face Colby-Sawyer College on the road on Saturday, September 8 at 11:00 am.
