Badgers 0-3 At David Hildebrandt Memorial Tournament

BROOKLINE, Mass. - Johnson women's volleyball went 0-3 at the David Hildebrandt Memorial Tournament this weekend hosted by Newbury College.  The Badgers (0-6, 0-0 North Atlantic Conference) lost all three matches by the score of 3-0 with the victories going to Newbury, Suffolk University, and Bard College.

Newbury 3, Johnson 0 (25-7, 25-8, 25-9)

In the opening match of the tournament the Badgers struggled receiving the Nighthawks serve as Newbury piled up 31 service aces for the match.  Sarah Young (Waterloo, N.Y.) recorded team-highs of 10 assists and eight service aces while Sydney Fish (Kalamazoo, Mich.) connected for eight kills.

Kylie VanEtten (Montrose, Penn./Elk Lake) had four digs and three assists for Johnson while Andrea Williams (Thorburn, Nova Scotia/North Nova) and Emily Himberg (Williston, Vt./CVU) each had two kills.

Suffolk 3, Johnson (25-10, 25-12, 25-13)

In the Badgers second match on Friday night the Rams of Suffolk University stacked up 29 kills on their way to the 3-0 win.  Glamarys Sierra (Carolina, Puerto Rico) dealt out 10 assists and six Rams recorded three or more kills in the second win of the season for Suffolk (2-3).

Williams had four kills and two digs while VanEtten had a pair of assists and two digs for JSC.  Amanda McLean (Queens, N.Y./HS for Environmental Science) added three digs and a kill.

Bard 3, Johnson (25-8, 25-16, 25-14)

Johnson saw the Lexi Cooper (Round Rock, Texas) led Bard Raptors take a 3-0 decision in the final match of the tournament for the Badgers.  Cooper supplied 16 assists, five service aces, and two kills to lead the way for Bard.  Tytravia Riley (Miami, Fla.) recorded a team-high six kills.

VanEtten, who was named to the all-tournament team, had five assists, five digs, and two kills for Johnson.  Sarah Forrest (Berrien Springs, Mich./Berrien Springs) had five digs, two assists and a kill in support for JSC.

Johnson will now host a tri-match with Lyndon State College and SUNY Cobleskill participating on Saturday, September 15.
