Lyndon Topples Johnson 3-1

LYNDON CENTER, Vt. - Johnson women's volleyball battled throughout but fell to host Lyndon State College 3-1 (30-28, 25-20, 18-25, 25-16) on Thursday night in a non-conference showdown.  The Badgers sit at 0-9, 0-0 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) while Lyndon improves to 2-8, 0-0 NAC.

Johnson received seven kills, nine assists and 13 digs from do-it-all senior Kylie VanEtten (Montrose, Penn./Elk Lake) while first-year outside hitter Andrea Williams (Thorborn, Nova Scotia/North Nova) (pictured) added seven kills, nine digs, and three block solos.  Junior Mallory Corse (Cambridge, Vt./Lamoille) tacked on five kills, seven digs, and two block solos.

Lyndon was led by Erica Ponte's 10 kills while Morgan Diltz recorded nine kills, six service aces, and 11 digs.

The Hornets were able to grind out a 30-28 win in the first set to gain control of the match.  The service receiving game for Johnson was struggle throughout the evening as Lyndon piled up 27 service aces for the match.

Johnson will travel to SUNY Canton on Saturday for a trio of matches starting with St. Joseph's (Brooklyn), followed by a tile with the host Kangaroos and wrapping up the day with a match with Paul Smith's College.
