The SUNY Cobleskill women's volleyball team downed visiting Johnson State College 3-0 at Fort Edward High School for a non-league contest Saturday evening. The Fighting Tigers were sharp beating the Badgers by set scores of 25-6, 25-11 and 25-20. With the win Cobleskill moves to 5-1 on the season while Johnson State falls to 0-5.
The Orange & Black needed only 58 minutes to subdue their opponents in the contest posting a season high of 29 service aces in the contest while committing only eight attack errors on the afternoon. Sophomore outside hitter Brandi Persico led a balanced attack with a five dig, three kill, three service ace effort; on a day which saw 17 different players, contribute to the box score.
The Badgers received four kills, five assisted blocks and four solo blocks from freshman middle blocker Andrea Williams in defeat.
Cobleskill will next be in action on Monday September 9 when they host the Pioneers of Utica College in non-league action beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Fighting Tigers Iorio Gymnasium. The Badgers will travel to SUNY Canton in a week for a tri-match with Canton and Paul Smith's beginning at 12:30pm.
