Eagles Fly By Badgers 3-0
Green Mountain College received nine kills and seven digs from junior middle hitter Madison Wage as the Eagles defeated Johnson State College 3-0 in women's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) volleyball action on Saturday afternoon at the Eagle Dome.
Green Mountain (5-10, 2-0 NAC) collectively hit .126 as a team and served up 18 aces en route to victory, winning 25-15, 25-12 and 25-19. The win was the team's second of the day after beating Lyndon State College in its first match 3-1.
Johnson got stronger as the match progressed as their hitters and defenders fell into the rhythm of play, but the Badgers just could not seem to find the holes in the Eagles' defense limiting them to 13 kills in the match. The JSC defense outdug the Eagles by a 50-34 margin.
Leading the attack for GMC was Wage and sophomore middle hitter Torie Cowell who supplemented Wage's nine kills with seven of her own. Sophomore outside hitter Sarah Davidson added six kills which was a career high. Setting up the offense was senior setter Jennifer Seredejko who tallied 20 assists. Defensively, freshman libero Celeste Bowers was a force digging up 12 attacks.
Johnson (0-14, 0-2 NAC) was led by sophomore middle blocker Andrea Williams and sophomore outside hitter Ja'Vayla Davis who each had three kills.  Davis added five digs to her totals, while Williams caused some havoc at the net by registering two solo blocks. Junior libero Amanda MacLean led all defensive players with 20 digs while Anna Bingham dug up eight attacks.  Sophomore setter Domonique Carter Stanley led the offense with nine assists and added nine digs.
Green Mountain will host a non-conference tournament again next weekend involving Bay Path, NHTI and Castleton.  Johnson will also host a tournament next weekend, hosting Lyndon and Mitchell.
