Badgers Drop Two in Non-Conference Tri-Match

The Vikings of Salem State played host to the Gators of Pine Manor College and the Badgers of Johnson State College in a tri-meet event Saturday afternoon at Twohig Gymnasium. The Vikings (3-9) went 2-0 during the meet, beating Pine Manor (7-14) in three sets (25-18, 25-17, 25-20) and snuck by Johnson State (3-13) in five sets, (24-26, 23-25, 25-20, 25-15, 15-6). The Gators went 1-1 on the day as they shut out Johnson State (25-12, 25-22, 25-21). The Badgers left the tri-meet without a victory.

Ashley Whiteshield posted 22 assists and 11 digs for the Gators as they blanked the Badgers of Johnson State. Mann led the attack with eight kills and also gathered nine digs. Breanna Laughlin  picked up eight kills for the Badgers, but their offense came up short as they recorded a .024 attack percentage compared to a .046 attack percentage of Pine Manor.

In the final game of the day, Peay led the Vikings with 16 kills as they came back from a 2-0 set deficit to defeat the Badger 3-2. Sarah Collins  contributed heavily towards the Vikings attack as she added 11 kills and four digs. Forcaciari racked up a game-high 36 assists throughout the five sets. Laughlin powered the Badgers' attack with 10 kills and 12 digs. Domonique Carter-Stanley had 21 digs to go along with four kills for Johnson State.

Johnson State will return to action when the Badgers travel to Green Mountain on Wednesday for a 7:30pm match.
