Eagles, Spartans Blank Badgers in Conference Tri-Match

The Badgers went 0-2 on the day dropping conference matches to Castleton and Green Mountain Sunday afternoon in Rutland, Vt. 

Green Mountain vs. Johnson St. (3-0)

The Eagles earned their first victory of the year in dominant fashion, sweeping Johnson St. 3-0 to open the day. Green Mountain won the first set by a 25-20 margin and took the second 25-14. In the third set the team didn't let the Badgers get a grip and earned the 25-20 victory.

Hayley Loisel led the team with six kills, seven digs and three aces while Torie Cowell was impressive with six aces, four digs and four kills while hitting .444. Sanrda Parr dished off five assists and added three aces as the team totaled 18 aces in the match.

Johnson St. had just six kills in the match but did record nine aces. Breanna Laughlin had two kills, two aces and six digs while Anna Bingham led the team with 14 digs. She added three aces, as did Andrea Williams. Williams also had five digs and two assists.

Castleton vs. Johnson St. (3-0)

The Spartans made it a sweep by hitting .325 with 43 digs in a 25-13, 25-11, 25-10 win over Johnson St. to improve to 11-7 overall.

Chambers led the offense by hitting .556 with ten kills and five digs. Tedeschi contributed seven kills, three digs and two aces while Alex Madsen dished off a team-high 17 assists. Freshman Morgan Valley registered four aces in the final set and Diaz had five kills, five aces and 14 digs in a good all-around effort.

Once again, Laughlin led her team with 11 kills and hit .259. Eimly Peterson dished off ten assists to go with six digs while Binham recorded 12 digs and six assists. Laurel Hubbert-Sever added two kills and two aces.

The Badgers are back in action next weekend when they host a quad-match where they will face Husson and Maine Maritime.
