Badgers Split in NVU-Johnson Tri-Match

Johnson Vt.- The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's volleyball team hosted both Bay Path University and Paul Smith's College on Sunday afternoon's tri-match in Carter Gym.

 NVU-Johnson vs. Bay Path University

 Bay Path took the first three sets against the Badgers in the first match of the day. Brooke Scheier (Milford, NJ) was impressive for the Badgers in the first match. Scheier had 11 kills. Kimberly Reville (Burke, N.Y.) and Nikola Knapova (Presov,Slovakia) also had big impacts as Reville recorded 8 kills and Knapova recorded 7 kills. Julie Van Etten (Montrose, PA) provided assistance for the entire match as she recorded a team high 21 assists. The Badgers fell in the first set by a score of 25-18. They had a similar performance falling to Bay Path by a score of 25-17 in the second set. The Badgers continued to fight over the course of the match and challenged Bay Path point for point until Bay Path capitalized and took the third set by a score of 27-25. Lydia Clifford had a strong performance for Bay Path as she recorded 11 kills.

 

Bay Path vs. Paul Smith's College

 Bay Path continued their winning ways against Paul Smith's College. In set one Bay Path won by a score of 25-16. The second set of the match was no different as Bay Path took over and defeated Paul Smith;s by a score of 25-13. Paul Smith's improved in the third set but still lost the set by a score of 25-20. Bay Path finished the afternoon with a 2-0 record.

 

NVU-Johnson vs. Paul Smith's College

 The Badgers bounced back from their earlier loss in the day and beat Paul Smith's College in the first three sets of the match. Knapova and Scheier continued to lead the way for the Badgers in their second match of the day. Knapova had 17 kills and Scheier had 8. Van Etten recorded another team high in assists with 26 for the match. With the win the Badgers improve to 4-6 overall. Head Coach Keven John also passes Joan Porambo for second place all time in coaching victories.
