Bengals Top Badgers 3-0

PRESQUE ISLE, ME- The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's volleyball team dropped their second match of the day on Saturday to the University of Maine Fort Kent by a score of 3-0. 

Mason Lores earned her way to a program record on Saturday. Lores recorded 26 assists in the loss for a career total of 491 assists which puts her first in program history. Freshman Ashley Emery lead the Badgers with 10 kills and 8 digs. Porsche Johnson added eight kills on 22 total attacks. Rounding out the top performers was Aleesia Smith contributed six kills for the Badgers.

Fort Kent capitalized in straight sets winning by a score of 25-18, 25-17, and 28-26. Rachel Nance lead the Bengals with ten kills. It was back and forth for the match. In the first stint of action it was the Bengals leading 16-14 before making an attacking 9-4 run to close out set one by a score of 25-18. The Bengals controlled set two and a late run earned them the win by a score of 25-17. In the final set Bengal attack errors allowed the Badgers the lead but eventually the Bengals tied the contest at 20-20 before earning the lead and winning by a score of 28-26.

With the loss women's volleyball moves to 11-9 overall. The 11 wins is the most wins in program history beating the 2018 record of ten wins.
