SUNY Canton Tops Badgers 3-0 in Regular Season Finale

JOHNSON,Vt.-The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's volleyball dropped their last regular season match to SUNY Canton by a score of 3-0 on Sunday afternoon.

The Badgers were beat by the Roos in straight sets by a scores of 25-22, 25-21, 25-23. 

Lauren Havill continued to be impressive in the second match of the day. Havill provided the Badgers with 11 kills and six digs. Nikola Knapova provided seven kills and four digs and Mason Lores added 21 assists. 

In set one both teams traded blows until NVU-Johnson errors provided the Kangaroos with a run that resulted in a 25-22 win. In the second stint of action the Kangaroos were led by Tatum Lafrance and Melissa McMaster.  Lafrance added a team high six kills for the match with Mcmaster and Marissa Ixtlahuac adding five a piece. SUNY Canton held the lead in the second set and a 5-1 closed the second set with the Kangaroos winning by a score of 25-21.

In the third and final set the score was knotted at 16-16. A two-point swing gave the Badgers the lead until a Kangaroo error and a Knapova service ace brought the score to 18-16 in favor of the Badgers. The teams traded blows and a strong defensive showing and block from Camryn Smeatin and Melissa McMaster earned the Kangaroos the win.

Women's Volleyball will compete in the North Atlantic Conference tournament. Seeding is set to be announced in the near future.
