Kira Emerald Atkinson Commits to Women's Volleyball for 2020 Campaign

JOHNSON, Vt.-The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's volleyball team and Head Coach Keven John have tabbed another commitment for the 2020 season. Kira Emerald Atkinson has signed the necessary paperwork and announced her commitment to NVU-Johnson. 

Atkinson a native of Hopewell, New Jersey and a 2018 graduate of Hopewell Valley Central High School has built a strong resume as a student-athlete throughout her high school career. During her time at Hopewell Valley Central High School, Atkinson placed 2ndoverall in javelin at the NJSIAA Sectional Track Championship. With her performance, Atkinson qualified for Nationals both her sophomore and junior seasons. 

"I chose NVU-Johnson mainly for their alternative medicine and wellness major, which is what I plan on studying, however after spending time on campus I fell in love with the area, community and the opportunity to continue my volleyball career," said Atkinson.

In her senior season year, Atkinson was named captain both for the varsity girls basketball team and varsity girls volleyball team and was selected as an All-Star in the West Jersey Interscholastic Volleyball League. 

"I am very excited to be joining the Badger family. Everyone I have met so far have been very helpful and welcoming," said Atkinson. "I am even more excited to be playing for Coach John, he has such a great energy and passion towards the sport and the program. I'm so grateful for this opportunity, thank you to everyone involved in making this possible."

Head Coach Keven John is excited about the addition of Kira Emerald Atkinson and plans to announce additional commitments in the upcoming weeks.
