Lauren Havill Named December 2020 Outstanding Student Athlete

JOHNSON, Vt.- On Thursday afternoon senior Lauren Havill was honored with the 2020 August/December Outstanding Student Athlete Award at the 2020 December graduation for Northern Vermont University-Johnson.

A member of the women's volleyball program since 2019, Havill was selected for this award for her outstanding accomplishments and commitment to NVU-Johnson athletics. During the 2019 season Havill earned North Atlantic Conference Second Team All-Conference Honors while leading the Badgers to their first ever playoff appearance in program history. Concluding the 2019 NAC Tournament Havill was also named as an All-Tournament Team Selection.

In North Atantic Conference action in 2019, Havill was first overall in total kills (52), second overall in kills per set (2.74), fourth overall in points per set (3.4) and top fifteen in aces per set.

Havill leaves NVU-Johnson ranked 7th all-time in program history in kills (161), and 14th all-time in service aces (40).

"Renn is the epitome of the ideal student athlete," said Head Coach Keven John. "Hard working on and off the court, Renn's impact on our campus will endure beyond her departure from Northern Vermont University-Johnson. The entire volleyball program will miss Renn and we wish her luck in her next adventure."

Andrew Lafrenz added "Renn, has been an exceptional student during her time here at NVU-Johnson. She has also been pivotal in our response to the COVID epidemic.  As a student in my Athletic Facilities and Event Management course we were planning numerous intramural events and working directly with Intramural Coordinator Keven John to create student led content. Renn's event was the only one that ran in person and it was a successful seated volleyball event.  That said, we then transitioned as a class to offer Online Intramurals and Renn created the graphics that were used to promote those events during the spring semester and was pivotal in much of our planning and execution of those events. She also worked to create new maps for our students and community to use for the frisbee golf course and campus trails.  These maps are a massive benefit to our campus and will likely be used long after Renn graduates. She is an exceptional student and a dedicated learner, and she has left a lasting mark on Johnson Athletics and our campus community."

This spring, Lauren will be the head assistant women's volleyball coach at Utica College where she will be pursuing her graduate degree MBA in management with a concentration in entrepreneurship.
