Vanessa Chavez Commits to Women's Volleyball for 2021 Campaign

JOHNSON, Vt.- The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's volleyball program and Head Coach Keven John have tabbed an additional commitment for the 2021 season.

Vanessa Chavez has signed the necessary paperwork and has made her commitment to Northern Vermont University-Johnson for the fall of 2021. Chavez comes to NVU-Johnson from Fullerton, California where she was a student-athlete at Fullerton High School.

"I chose Northern Vermont University because of the campus and the seasons. I've always wanted to go to a college that has aa four seasons and throughout the process I was talking to many schools and ultimately realized that NVU was the best fit for me," said Chavez.

During her time at Fullerton High School, Chavez was a four-year player on the varsity volleyball program. In her sophomore season, Chaves was named captain after being named most improved player the year before. Throughout her sophomore season Chavez was impressive racking up Most Valuable Player and was a 1stTeam All-League selection. In her junior season, she earned Offensive Player of the Year and will look to contribute to NVU-Johnson's program right away. 

"I'm looking forward to playing for Coach John, throughout the recruiting process he seemed nice and I felt a good connection to him and assistant coach Dana John. I'm very excited to be competing at the next level combined with playing with athletes who have similar work ethic and ambition."

Head Coach Keven John continues to add for the upcoming 2021 season and plans to announce additional commitments in the near future. The women's volleyball program plans to have a shortened spring season and the schedule for the spring of 2021 plans to be announced in the coming weeks.
