NVU-Johnson Fall at Southern Maine

GORHAM, ME- The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's volleyball team was back in action Sunday as they traveled to the University of Southern Maine. The Badgers fell to the Huskies by a score of 3-0.

NVU-Johnson junior Christina Betham led all players with 10 kills and had six digs.  Rookies Natalia Medina and Kira Atkinson added six and five kills, respectively.  Junior Kylie Berry passed out 17 assist, and rookie libero Bella Baragona led all players with 11 digs.

The Badgers held the lead for the majority of the first set until the Huskies tallied five straight points to take the win by a score of 25-23. 

In the second half the Badgers started strong but a 9-1 USM run brought the Huskies within two before three straight service aces helped regain the lead. The Badgers worked to cut the deficit but USM would eventually see the set out leading 2-0 on the match.

The Huskies came out in the third and final set with an 8-1 run to take the strong advantage. The Badgers would come within four points trailing 12-8, but USM would continue their run and earned the win to close the match in three straight sets. 

With the loss the Badgers drop to 0-3 on the season and will host Paul Smith's on Wednesday evening in Carter Gym.
