Women's Volleyball Cruise to 3-0 Win Over Paul Smith's

JOHNSON, Vt.-The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women's volleyball program earned their first win of the season on Wednesday night in Carter Gymnasium as they beat Paul Smith's College in straight sets. The Badgers won by scores of 25-19, 25-16, 25-10.

Porsche Johnson and Natalia Medina each recorded a match high 11 kills apiece while Christina Betham added eight kills and seven digs. Kira Atkinson contributed six kills on 13 attacks. Defensively it was Bella Baragona who was active for the Badgers recording a match high 16 digs and Jimmi Lynn Williams added 10 digs. Kylie Berry set up the Badger offense as she recorded a career high 28 assists. 

The Badgers fell behind early in the first set trailing 7-3 to the Bobcats before a pair of Medina service aces and errors from the Bobcats would tie the knot 8-8. The Bobcats would regain the lead 16-12 but the Badgers would quickly adjust and three consecutive kills by PJ Johnson would give the Badgers the advantage before closing the set by a score of 25-19.

The Bobcats opened up the second set with two straight points before the Badgers would take control going on a 10-3 run. They would eventually finish off the set with the 25-16 win. In the third and final set it was all NVU-Johnson opening up the set on a 15-2 run before cruising to the win.

 

With the win women's volleyball improves to 1-3 on the season and will host Norwich University this Friday at 6:30pm in Carter Gymnasium to conclude the 2021 season.
