Johnson Rolls Past Green Mountain 89-72

JOHNSON, Vt. – Johnson State received career-high's of 19 points and 11 rebounds from junior forward Cody Camisa (Colchester, Vt./Colchester) (pictured) to pick up a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) men's basketball victory on Tuesday night 89-72 over Green Mountain College.  The Badgers move to 2-10 overall, 2-4 NAC while Green Mountain stands at 2-7, 1-4 NAC.

Sophomore center Billy Boyd (Hardwick, Vt./Hazen) scored a career-high 20 points for JSC while junior point guard Andy Bousono (Philadelphia,  Penn./Nueva Esperanza) scored 15 points and handed out a game-high seven assists.  Sophomore guard Lester Alexander (Burlington, Vt./Burlington) came off the JSC bench to provide a huge spark in addition to his career-high 12 points and four assists. 

GMC's Carnelius Green (Oviedo, Fla./Oviedo) tallied a game-high 22 points to go with nine rebounds and Jakerion Ales (Batesville, Miss./South Panola) added 16 points to supplement the Eagles' offense.

The Badgers forced 17 Green Mountain turnovers on the night and hit the glass for 15 offensive rebounds to help key the victory.

Leading by eight at the half 45-38 behind 10 points each from Camisa and Boyd but with 8:04 left to play the visitors trailed by only nine points at 70-61.  Johnson would go on a 14-2 run to push the margin to 84-63 with six points coming from senior forward Alen Turan (Essex, Vt./Essex) in the surge and all but seal the game.

Johnson will remain at home for the next three games including Friday night when the host Maine Maritime Academy at 5:30 pm.  Green Mountain moves on to play at Colby-Sawyer College on Thursday at 5:30 pm.
