Panthers Prevail 95-65

The Middlebury men's basketball team earned a 95-65 road win over Johnson State, in non-conference action Tuesday evening. The Panthers improve to 11-5 overall and 3-1 in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) while Johnson State falls to 3-10 overall and 1-7 in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC).

Despite the loss, Johnson saw four players score double-digits with a big performance from senior Bryan Hickey who poured in a game-high 23 points on 11-18 shooting. Teammate Ron Adrian chipped in 14 points while sophomore Asim Khan went 4-7 earning 12 points followed closely by junior Cory Chase who contributed 11 points, and seven rebounds.

Middlebury saw Dylan Sinnickson throw up 20 points on 8-15 shooting. Hunter Merryman chipped in 17 points for the Panthers while teammates Joey Kizel and Jack Roberts put up 11 and 10 points respectively.

The first half was played closely throughout with one tie and 11 lead changes. The hosts opened up the first stanza just 30 seconds in with a jumper from Adrian to get things moving. The visitors took the lead for good with 14:57 left in the half with a score of 12-11. The Badgers trailed the Panthers 46-36 when the teams headed into the locker room.

Middlebury scored 12 of its 49 points from the free throw line in the second half while using strong glass work to pull down 20 rebounds. The visitors didn't slow their pace, taking advantage by outscoring the Badgers 49-29 ultimately winning  95-65.  

The Badgers will host Husson on Friday night at 5:30p. for a NAC contest while the Panthers host St. Joseph's at 7:00p on Thursday evening.
