Panthers Cruise to 77-56 Victory Over Badgers

The Johnson State College men's basketball team fell to the visiting Plymouth State Panthers 77-56 on Tuesday night in Carter Gymnasium. The Panthers move to 5-7 overall while the Badgers slip to 1-10 overall and remain at 1-4 in the North Atlantic Conference.

The Badgers put three players in double digits. Asim Khan notched a team high 18 points while Ron Adrian put up 17 points. Cory Chase scored 11 in the Badgers' loss.

For the Panthers, Alex Burt scored a team high 18 points while Uche Nwokeji earned a double-double with 13 points and 10 boards. Jack Preston contributed 10 to the Panthers victory.

It took almost four minutes for either team to get on the board, but Burt broke the silence with a jump shot for Plymouth. Johnson State didn't score until five minutes into the half with a three from Adrian. With 7:56 left in the half, the Badgers found themselves within two points, but the Panthers would go on a 14-1 run to close out the first half with the Panthers ahead 36-21.

The Panthers continued their style of play going 5-8 from the floor in the first eight minutes. With a made layup by Brain Boulay, the Panthers would have the largest lead of the game, 72-45 with 2:45 remaining. The Panthers closed out the game with a comfortable 77-56 non-conference win.

Johnson returns to action on Saturday the 10th when it hosts NAC foe Lyndon State for a 3:00pm tip, while the Panthers travel to Lyndon State for a 7:00pm tip-off on Thursday the 8th.
