Badgers Complete Comeback to Stun Eagles in OT

Johnson State came alive in the second half after being down by 20 to beat North Atlantic Conference foe (NAC) Green Mountain 94-90 in overtime. The Badgers move to 2-6 in the NAC (2-12 overall) while the Eagles drop to 4-3 in the NAC (4-8 overall). 

Johnson State started out sloppy in the first half, giving up nine offensive rebounds and turning the ball over 14 times. Green Mountain had their offense on fire shooting 46% from downtown and 47% from the floor. The Eagles started out strong, going on an 18-6 run but the by the 9:27 mark, the Badgers were able to cut the lead to just five. That would be the as close as the Badgers would get however as the Eagles closed out the half on top 42-27. 

The second have started out much the same for the Badgers as it took their offense almost five minutes to record a basket. At the 15:28 mark, the Badgers would start a dominating 28-9 run that would close the gap to just three points with 8:08 left in the half. After a few back and forth baskets, Johnson found the lead for the first time in the game at the 6:50 mark. With .54 seconds left in the game, the game was all tied up 78-78. Both Johnson and Green Mountain would get off some last second shots but none fell through the basket and the game went into overtime. 

Green Mountain scored first in the extra period but Johnson answered right back. With 36.8 seconds left in overtime, the Badgers found themselves up 89-88. A turnover by Green Mountain and some made free throws from Johnson would seal the victory for the home team in an exciting conference matchup. 

Asim Khan lead the Badgers with 23 points and dishing out eight assists followed by Miphael Dominique who had a career high 20 points. Demetrius Slade recorded a double double with 18 points and pulling down 10 rebounds for Johnson State. 

The Eagles saw five players in double digit figures with Cameron Anderson leading the team with 31 points and nine rebounds. Javier Luqris earned a double double with 13 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Both Chris Strong and Darius Wynn notched 11 points for their team while Cassius Belfon chipped in 10 in the Green Mountain loss. 

The Badgers will travel to Middlebury on Tuesday to play a non-conference game with a tip of 7:00pm. The Eagles return home on Tuesday to play NAC opponent Colby-Sawyer with a 5:30pm tip.
