Gators Earn 86-73 Victory Over Badgers

The Pine Manor College men's basketball team earned an 86-73 win over the Johnson State Badgers on Saturday afternoon at Carter Gym. With the loss, the Badgers slide to 0-1 on the young season.

Taverick Roberson led the Gators by posting a game-high 24 points courtesy of an 11-for-18 performance from the paint. For the hosts, Rahim Bunch led the hosts with 21 points and 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the season.

Pine Manor jumped out to the early 7-2 lead after Roberson put-up five quick points. Buckets from Rasul Jackson, Asim Khan and Bunch gave Johnson the lead momentarily until the Gators knotted things up 11-11 with 15:20 left to play. The Gators pulled ahead of the Badgers 46-30 by the end of the second half and didn't look back.

The Gators relied on crisp ball movement to generate many open looks from three-point range. In all, the Eagles hit 6-of-21 attempted threes in the game. The visitors controlled the momentum for the majority of the second half never letting the Badgers come within four points. The Gators walked off with the 86-73 win for their first victory of the season.

Johnson will travel to Amherst to compete in the Ken Wright '52 Invitational next weekend.
