Badgers Complete Comeback to Advance to NAC Semi-Final Round

The Badgers closed a 15-point halftime deficit to hang on for a 91-87 win over Lyndon St. in the North Atlantic Conference Quarterfinals on Tuesday evening in Carter Gymnasium. With the win, Lyndon ends its regular season 10-15 overall and 8-11 in the NAC. The Badgers advance to the NAC Semifinals and will play second seed Colby-Sawyer on Friday at 8:00 pm in Bangor, Maine. 

Johnson was the victim of an 18 point deficit in the last minute of the opening stanza despite shooting 56.5% in the first half. Lyndon went 61.7% overall in the first half, making 57.1% from downtown. All five Johnson starters scored in double-figures, led by 19 points from Rahim Bunch and 17 for Rasul JacksonBenjamin HollDemetrius SladeAsim Khan 

Shaun Hill scored a game-high 35 points for the Hornets with help from Kevin Love, who contributed 21 points in the visitors losing efforts. Love earned a double-double pulling down 12 rebounds.

Johnson jumped out to a quick 14-8 lead in the opening seven minutes. The Hornets took the points back and then some, pulling ahead by as many as 18 points, fueled by 16 points from Hill. With the surge, the Hornets headed into the locker room up 50-35. 

Johnson opened the second half with a 24-2 run as the hosts battled back into the game. With 10:17 to go and the Badgers up 62-60, Johnson turned up the heat, pushing their lead to as many as 14 points with 3:17 remaining in the game. The Hornets tried to take advantage of a Johnson lull in the final minutes of the game, cutting their deficit to 91-82 in the final :12 seconds of the game.

Love hurled a last second shot to sink a buzzer-beating three point shot from half court, but couldn't give his team the win. The Badgers' balanced attack in the second half lifted them to a 91-87 victory.
