
JOHNSON, Vt. – The Johnson State College men's basketball team fell to Green Mountain College 79-75 in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) contest on Saturday afternoon at Carter Gym.
The Badgers drop to 3-7 (1-4 NAC) on the season while the Eagles move to 5-6 (3-3 NAC).
1st HALF
The Eagles broke out to a 19-9 lead to start the game, but the Badgers chipped away through the final 16 minutes of the half to pull the Green Mountain lead down to 42-39 at the half.
2nd HALF
Green Mountain started the second half strong again, going on an 11-3 run over the first four minutes to improve their lead to 53-42. The teams traded baskets over the next nine minutes, with Green Mountain holding a 63-49 lead with just over seven minutes remaining in the game. Johnson would go on a 21-8 run over the next five minutes, with an Alexander Vetere (Craftsbury, Vt.) floater tying the game at 71 with two and a half minutes remaining. The eagles answered right back with a Duane Goodman Jr. three to regain the 74-71 lead. After a Marqwon Wynn (Wilmington, Del.) layup made it 74-73, the Eagles put the game out of reach with a De Shaun Carr three and took the 79-75 win.
