MBB: Late Comeback Pushes Pine Manor Past Johnson

JOHNSON, Vt. – The Johnson State College men's basketball team fell Pine Manor College 64-61 in a non-conference game on Tuesday evening at Carter Gym.

The Badgers drop to 7-15 (4-12 NAC) on the season while the Gators move to 9-13.

1st HALF

The Gators jumped out to an early 8-0 lead, but the Badgers battled back to take a 17-16 lead just past the midway point in the half. After Johnson pushed their lead to 26-19 with four minutes left in the period, Pine Manor closed the half on a 13-4 run to take a 32-30 lead at the break.

2nd HALF

The teams traded baskets in the early parts of the second half, with the score tied at 44 with 11:21 remaining. The Badgers rallied off 10 straight points over the next three meets to take command at 54-44. The Gators battled back to pull back ahead 60-59 with 3:13 left in the game. After scoreless possessions by each team, Marqwon Wynn (Wilmington, Del.) put the Badgers back up 61-60 with two minutes remaining. Pine Manor hit two free throws on the ensuing possession to take back the lead for good, moving on to the 64-61 victory.
