Men's Basketball Improves to 2-2 With Road Win Over Curry College

MILTON, MA.-The Northern Vermont University-Johnson earned their first road win of the 2019-2020 season on Friday evening against Curry College. The Badgers ousted the Colonels by a score of 87-77 in Katz Gymnasium.

Junior Robert Dubose lead the way with 16 points on 6-13 shooting from the floor and three rebounds. Samuel Stephens contributed 13 points on 5-6 shooting and Zach Shedd recorded eight points and a team high 11 rebounds and Floyd Davis rounded out the top performers for the Badgers with 10 points and eight rebounds.

The Badgers started the game on a 4-0 run led by Dubose and Shedd. Curry evened the score and took their first lead of the contest with thirteen minutes remaining in the first half. It was Davis that provided a spark for the Badgers as they went on a 10-3 run with three minutes remaining. Strong defense and limiting the Colonels second chance points earned the Badgers the 38-26 lead headed into the break. 

Dubose started where he left off in the first half and connected on the first points of the period with a layup. Dubose contributed ten of his team high 16 points in the second half shooting 3-5 from the field. The Badgers remained in control throughout the half dictating the pace of action and concluded the road game by a score of 87-77.

The Badgers won the turnover battle giving the ball away nine times to the Colonels 15. The NVU-Johnson bench produced 34 points.

With the win men's basketball improves to 2-2 on the season and will face in state rival Castleton University on Friday, November 22 at the historic Barre Auditorium. Tip-off is set to begin at 1:00pm.
