Falcons Capitalize in Final Seconds Over Badgers

JOHNSON, Vt.-The Northern Vermont University-Johnson men's basketball program hosted Fisher College for their first game in Carter Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon. The Badgers fell in the closing seconds on the game as the Falcons were victorious by a score of 95-93.

The Badgers were led by the double double night of Robert Dubose Jr. who scoring 21 points on 7-12 shooting from the floor, eleven rebounds and four assists. Ayodeji Shokeye, contributed a game high 23 points, eight boards and a steal. Off the bench was newcomer Phillip Lyttle who sparked the Badgers offense with 15 points shooting an impressive 6-8 from the field. 

The Badgers took the first half by just two points as the Falcons capitalized offensively after made NVU-Johnson baskets. The Falcons were energized by the scoring duo of Jason Augliera and Kyle Willams. Augliera was impressive from behind the arc knocking down nine shots for a game high 28 points, while Williams contributed 22 points on 7-12 shooting. Chris Lennar earned his own double double scoring 12 points and collecting 14 boards. 

In the second half Fisher outscored the Badgers 50-46 despite a limited roster and foul trouble. In the final minute with the contest knotted at 92 a piece it was Lyttle who attacked the rim earning the foul for the opportunity to take the lead. Lyttle capitalized on one of two free throws to lead 93-92. A Badger foul put the Falcons to the line where they capitalized on one of two shots to tie the knot at 93-93. In transition a costly Badger turnover resulted in one last shot for the Falcons as Williams connected to take the lead with just one second remaining. 

With the loss the Badgers drop to 0-3 on the season and the Fisher College Falcons improve to 1-0 overall.
