Strong First Half Lifts Badgers Over Cadets

JOHNSON, Vt.-The Northern Vermont University-Johnson men's basketball program first half surge resulted in a respective win over the Norwich University Cadets on Monday evening in Carter Gym. The Badgers took the game by a score of 95-66.

The Cadets would score the opening basket of the game but that would remain their only lead of the contest as Robert Dubose Jr. returned the favor by hitting three of his game high 21 points. The Badgers would go on a prolonged run to open up a 31-point lead at 43-12 with 4:37 to go in the first half. The offense was sparked by five players who scored in double figure. Behind Dubose Jr's offensive performance was Phillip Lyttle who contributed 13 points, three boards and three blocks. Malik Moore added 12 points and Samuel Stephens and Ayodeji Shokeye both chipped in 11 points for the home team.

A major advantage belonging to the Badgers was their ability to get contributions from their reserves as twelve players scored for the game. The Badgers also hit on nearly 40 percent of their three-point attempts and shot an impressive 61.5% from the floor hitting an impressive clip (40-65).

With the win, men's basketball improves to 1-3 on the season as Norwich falls to 0-1 on the season. The Badgers will have to continue the hot streak as they travel to Norwich University tomorrow for a 6:00pm tip.
