Robert Dubose Jr. Reaches 1,000 Career Points in Loss to NVU-Lyndon

JOHNSON, Vt.- The Northern Vermont University-Johnson men's basketball team was defeated by rival NVU-Lyndon Thursday evening in the final seconds of action by a score of 87-86.

In a closely contested first half, the Badgers used a strong offensive attack to take the 48-40 lead. The Badger offense was ignited by Robert Dubose Jr. who scored 31 points, while Ayodeji Shokeye poured in 18 points.

Throughout the second half the Badgers held a lead for the majority of the second half. Hornets' comeback attempts would fall short, as the Badgers would lead by a small margin throughout the duration of regulation. With just four seconds left in regulation Dubose Jr. knocked down an eight-foot jumper inside the paint to take the slight two-point advantage.

After a Badger timeout it wasn't until the final second of regulation that Luke Fredsell would capitalize on a shot from behind the arc as time expired to give the Hornets the win.

Zach Falkenburg finished with a career high 31 points to lead the Hornets.  He also pulled down a team best nine rebounds.  Olsen added 25 points and handed out a team high six assists while Fredsell and Alex Carlisle also reached double figures with 12 and ten points respectively.

The story of the night for NVU-Johnson was Dubose Jr. as the senior became the 10th player in NVU-Johnson men's basketball history (since the program became an NCAA member) to reach 1,000 career points.

The Badgers returns to play on Saturday, March 6 when they host Plymouth State at 1:00pm in Carter Gymnasium.
