Team Effort Lifts Johnson Badgers over Eastern Nazarene Lions

QUINCY, MA – The Johnson men's basketball team had four players score in double figures as the Badgers beat the hosting Eastern Nazarene Lions, 77-74, Sunday afternoon. Johnson recorded its second NAC victory in the matchup.
 
There was a steady rhythm inside the Lahue Gym, as the Badgers and Lions matched their opponents' shots and traded the lead like clockwork. The first half the game saw neither team extend the lead beyond three points, entering halftime at a 39-39 tie. Center David Greer led the way for the Badgers, contributing 15 points and six rebounds in the first half, joined by teammates Maleek View, Nazir Gossette, and Gerald Pitt Jr. combining for 19 in the opening stanza.

Guard Maleek View opened the second with a jumper to push the score to 41-39, as teammates Raymond Baka and Gerald Pitt Jr. picked up the pace, contributing 12 points each in the second half. The game stayed within one score until 6:38 remained in the second, when Johnson went on a 10-0 run, bringing them into the lead at 73-66. The Badgers would extend their lead to it's most at eight points thanks to a three-pointer by Darone Frierson with 44 seconds remaining, bringing the score to 76-68. The Badgers would not give up the lead for the remainder of the contest, taking the 77-74 win.

Notes: Player season-highs: View with 11 assists, Greer with 21 points, and Pitts Jr. with 19 points. Greer's 21 points led the floor.
 
Men's Basketball is back in action on Friday, January 26 as the Badgers travel to SUNY Cobleskill. Tip-off is slated for 5:00 pm.
