Badgers Seal Win over Lynx, Semega and Glover Hit Season-Highs

JOHNSON, VT - The Badgers claimed the win over Lesley at home, 93-85, as six hit double digits alongside Sabree Glover and Mohammed Semega's season-highs.

Johnson opened Wednesday's evening contest with a layup by Baka, made possible by three offensive rebounds (Baka, Matthew Carter, Jason Baker) in the opening drive. The two teams traded the lead up to 10-9 (advantage Badgers) until an 8-0 Johnson run widened the gap to 16-9. The Lynx would prove competitive, finding opportunity in the paint during an 11-0 run of their own to reclaim the lead at 21-18.

With just over 11:00 remaining in the first, Mohammed Semega reset the tone for the Badgers with an aggressive layup, assisted by Baka. An offensive rebound on the following drive saw Baka help the Badgers take a slim lead again, sitting one up at 22-21. The matchup returned to it's initial theme, with three lead changes, before a final Badgers roll wrapped the half at 45-36, in Johnson's favor.

The opening half was highlighted by Baka's 16 points (7 rebounds) and Baker's 8 rebounds (9 points) as Johnson capitalized on offensive rebounds and missed Lesley opportunities.

Lesley's return to the court saw them chip away at their deficit, evening the score at 64-64 with just over 10:00 remaining in the game. The following minutes saw the Badgers and Lynx trade blow for blow, remaining even with 5:00 left on the clock (76-76). A sense of urgency could be seen on both sides, with fast breaks and shooting fouls claiming the following drives. A decisive three-pointer by Darone Frierson at 3:11 would be the final lead change (79-76), as the Badgers continued to pull ahead in the remaining minutes to take the win 93-85.

Johnson returns to the court Monday for a 2pm tipoff at University of Maine at Presque Isle.
