Johnson found strength in numbers, as five Badgers notched point totals in the double digits, but ultimately fell 82-76 to the Lesley Lynx on Tuesday evening.
SUMMARY
Johnson opened the game trading baskets early, with Tre Bradley knocking down a three-pointer at 18:20 to make it 6-3. Jaylen Brown pushed forward the Badger momentum with back-to-back buckets in the seventh minute, trimming the deficit to 14-13. Lesley responded with a surge of their own though, pushing the lead to 29-19. While the Badgers fought back with threes from Niv Barzilay, Joseph Gargiulo, and Darone Frierson, closing the gap to 32-28, a Lesley run and layup in the final seconds pushed the score to 39-32 at halftime in the Lynx's favor.
Though Lesley extended the lead to 62-45 midway through the second half, Johnson answered with a Frierson triple at 9:57 and a series of buckets from Marty Askenazi, Gargiulo, Semega, and Brown to cut the margin to 71-59 with six minutes remaining. Brown's steal and layup at 3:22 made it 79-69, and Semega's jumper at 1:51 brought the Badgers within eight. Gargiulo scored in the final seconds, but Lesley held on to secure the 82-76 win.
